Imagine the immersive world you want to see and compete for the chance to build it — with a grand prize of a scholarship valued at $60,000 to attend one of ASU’s new transdisciplinary XRts graduate degree programs. 

Announcing the Worlds for Change Challenge winners

At SXSW, we announced our two grand prize Worlds for Change Challenge winners, ASU animation student Victoria Silva and Vedika Bhasin, an augmented reality artist based in the San Francisco Bay area. Honorable mention winners were: Sunny Collins, Samantha Dimaano, Mikale Kaminer, Madeleine Knight, Alba Olivé Martí, Vivian Ngiam, Odi Nwosu, John Kyle Varley and Nancy Zuo.

PachucoXR, a project of the social enterprise TecnoLatinx and ASU XRts Immersive Media Fellow Martha Mendizabal, commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Zoot Suit Riots in 2023, masterfully intertwining a historic American narrative with state-of-the-art technology.
